The Practice of Coaching and How to Overcome Failure
Before your venture even begins, you can effectively guarantee success; so says the author of Million Dollar Coaching, who illuminates the path with a set of skills and traits that shape the features of success in this field.
In the world of coaching, the story begins with great flexibility in delivering work and services—a flexibility that gives you the ability to adapt to the differences among people and their needs. Then comes your awareness of your role, and your deep understanding of what you represent in your clients' lives, after which your tasks become clear and you stand firmly and confidently at the boundaries of your services.
The strength of your presence becomes evident when you speak clearly about the content of your role, reinforce your confidence in your positive impact, and build a vision capable of preparing your clients mentally and cognitively. By presenting your services in a motivating manner, you begin to draw closer to people, getting to know their needs and understanding their behaviors.
From here, you weave a network of goals connected to your clients' lives, and identify the gap between their reality and their aspirations. You read the details of their achievements, turn them into strengths, and search within them for the source of their self-confidence.
Then you move to the essence of coaching: questions. You craft impactful questions that stimulate brainstorming, always stand on your client's side, make your questions appear meaningful, and show genuine interest in their answers. You help them clarify their thoughts, staying mentally present with them, with impactful presence and focused attention.
You focus on small results, because they are the seeds of great achievements, and you engage with information confidently trusting your intuition, while valuing the meaning behind your client's answers. You regulate your emotions, refrain from judgment, and show the highest degree of trust in your clients.
You observe body language, pick up on cues, understand emotions, accept them, and then direct attention to them. You ask questions that redirect focus toward goals, rather than dwelling on circumstances.
You maintain your focus, help your client breathe and relax, and open the door to calm and control for them. You make your dialogue positive without exaggeration, and believe in the importance of positivity in reading reality.
You monitor your awareness, your inner dialogue, and your emotions throughout the stages of the work, set goals for developing productivity, and offer perspectives that strengthen the client's interest in their life, health, and goals.
You adhere to the methodology of your sessions, study each question carefully, and ask thoughtfully without skipping stages. You focus on your tone of voice, speaking calmly, so your client aligns with the rhythm of reassurance.
You allow sufficient time for each stage and each answer, and you observe the clarity of your client's responses and their readiness for honesty. You reinforce the importance of their personality, and guide them toward a calm, purposeful life built on self-reliance.
You explain to them the value of small goals, teach them to pay attention to positive details, and encourage them to express their feelings courageously. You continuously free them from their fears and support them in persevering.
You ask questions that open new understanding of the events of their daily life, and help them adopt concepts that reinforce positive convictions. You continue training in managing the dialogue, and build with them a space of safety and trust, in which everything said remains confidential.
In this way, forty-five rules take shape before you—not mere tips, but a shield protecting you from failure in managing your practice. The more you commit to them, the closer you come to achieving a high return and a profound impact on your clients' lives, for they represent the distilled experience of coaching experts around the world.
