CPQ™ Knowledge Centre
What is the difference between a coach and a psychological counsellor?
A coach focuses on goals the client can influence, awareness, choice and future action within the coach’s competence. Counselling or psychotherapy may address disorders, symptoms, trauma and assessments requiring different qualifications or legal permissions depending on jurisdiction. Psychological knowledge does not authorise a coach to diagnose or treat. Severe symptoms, safety risk or treatment needs require appropriate referral.
